OSS is a rural 8-12 school in sunny Osoyoos. Our three building campus overlooks Canada's warmest lake and our students spend lots of time outside enjoying our terrific weather. For a small school we always have lots going on and pride ourselves on being able to offer our students quality academics while remaining a close knit school community. We also offer a wide range of elective options including automotives, woodwork and metal shop. Over half of our student population is involved in athletics and all students have the opportunity to be involved in many other ways. OSS Rattlers are the pride of our small town!
We run a non-traditional, flexible timetable at OSS. Our students have less scheduled contact times for a class per week than a regular timetable. They then have Learning Centre times where students can choose which courses to work on. This allows the flexibility to concentrate time on what the students need, whether that is more or less time for a course. This timetable works well to address the ideals of the new BC curriculum, where education is supposed to be more personal and individual. It also allows us, as a small school, to offer more courses so our students gain the benefits of small school and class sizes with the course offerings of a larger school.
